Cab Rants Part 1

i am dirt poor so i normally don't ride cabs to work or anywhere unless i really really need to. lately though, i've been doing this more than usual (partly due to laziness) and i noticed that for some strange reason, i either get a dilapidated old toyota with questionable stains or an asshole of a driver who would rob you with their shitness. anyway.... from now on, i will blog every single cab ride experience in this little segment i call: CAB RANTS *thunder. lightning. mad laughter* so first on my list is: PLATE NUMBER: PWV 382 Description: Salvor Taxi Origin: Robinson's Pioneer Destination: Boni Date and Time: 11/18/2009, 9:15 PM RANT: Rude, foul-mouthed driver. No manners at all. i hate it when they ASK you for a tip. he even said that he wasn't supposed to pass by the taxi stand but he decided to because the security guard keeps on signaling for him. this was also the his reason why we SHOULD tip him. so parang utang na loob ko pa ngayon? he even &q

starstruck.

i haven't been updating much because work became the center of my universe last week. the weekend waved a short hello. before i knew it, it's monday all over again. curse this life. thank God for the french classes. can i just say for the record that raya mananquil is the nicest person ever? (i know that is a weird thing to utter even for me). i don't think i've ever been near an actual celebrity in an enclosed space before so i never really knew what kind of personality they have. i guess i've always pictured them as snobbish, self-centered bitches. (maybe it's the all-girls private school thing i'm kind of used to) she's NOTHING like that at all. she even gave us (me, douglas , and another colleague) a ride back to our office after our classes last week. i mean come on, i can't even get my brother to drive me anywhere. there really are still some good people left in this world. wonder what matthew morrison is like? ok this post is like a

Mary and Max

Max : Do you have a favourite-sounding word? My top 5 are ointment, bumblebee, Vladivostok, banana and testicle. After about a week of hesitation, i decided to write my very first "real" review of a movie. disclaimer, i am not in any position to criticize anything. but this is my blog, and i can write whatever pleases me...so screw you...you...you...whoever you are who thinks this is lame. As mentioned, Mary and Max has been the talk of the town (and when i say "the town", i'm referring to the small room in the 5th floor of our building that houses my project team) for quite some time now. so i saw it sometime last week. and i must say that i really really really enjoyed the flick. the story is about mary, an 8-year-old girl from australia who became pen pals with a 40-year-old max, a mentally unstable single man in new york. their long-distance platonic relationship blossomed for 18 years. even with the (humongous) age gap, both of them formed an unlikely

What's your damage, Heather?

i was browsing around the internet while waiting for my task (task dependency is a bitch) and i found out that there's a possible sequel to Heathers. yes, Heathers. the cult classic movie about high school, popularity and murder. awesome film. i have often told people that i remember nothing about my high school life. selective amnesia so to speak. lately though, bits and pieces are coming back. and i don't even know if that is a good thing. during the last months of my senior year, i told myself that when i leave that place, i want my life to be different. i was just so scarred by my high school experience. and i am not exaggerating here. everything about that place gives me the creeps. so, i made a promise that one day i will make a name for myself and slap my achievements to all the girls who bullied me, the so-called friends who abused me and the people who endlessly teased me because i was never pretty enough. i assured myself that in time, these popular kids wi

parlez vous francais?

the past couple of weeks had been hard. i wasn't feeling well. i couldn't drink meds for reasons i will not divulge...ever. and stress at work reached new heights which made my head ache too much. i have never felt this tired in my entire life. i wanted to de-stress last week. i mean, that was the purpose of the haircut. but as you all know, that didn't turn out well. although i did have 2 days of nothingness to boast about, but that was only temporary since my salon experience happened after and everything in my head went screeeech screeeeeech screeeeeech once again. then work shit of course had to happen after that. even if i had only about 3 days of work left that week (nov 2 was a holiday and i was on leave nov 3), i just wouldn't feel better. i was even dreading my saturday early morning french classes. it was a 9am class. i am not a morning person. by friday night, my exhaustion is beyond words and i was beginning to regret signing up for it. but i d

stressssssssssssss...

eye is twitching involuntarily. a friend told me its a visible sign of stress. i think that i am working too hard. shit. why am i having a hard time managing this? i've asked for help with my tasks. i just couldn't focus. the eye twitching will NOT stop. it is freaking me out. which is making me feel even more stressed. i don't know what to do. i thought filing a VL would do me good. but it just made things worse. i need a really good distraction. like the new episode for fringe. hehehe.

hassle much?

my back is getting worse!!!!!!! i hate this...i hate my flu. i hate everything!!! grrrr...

boo hoo day.

i've donned the same look for a couple of years now. my hair is long with curly ends which is very manageable for me. people might think that getting a perm would also require you to work on your hair every morning to keep it looking nice. but really, curly hair is not hard to maintain. all i have to do is comb my tresses and curl the tips using my fingers. very wash and wear. i don't even need to blow dry. i don't need any hair products (although mousse is highly recommended). i've received quite a number of compliments for my hair. curls are sexy, so they say. but lately i have been neglecting my mane and before i knew it, it grew too long and gone dry. it got bad...as in alanis-morisette-thanking-india long. it was too heavy and i keep running out of shampoo. so 2 weeks ago, i decided to finally have it cut. next question is...where? i searched far and wide (and when i say far and wide, i meant google) for the perfect salon to subject myself to. i'

an idle mind....is a luxury

i didn't sleep much Friday night for 2 reasons: number one. i have a really bad cold. i couldn't breathe. head aches because of lack of oxygen. thick mustard-colored mucus. ew. and number two, the 105972509365834th typhoon to hit the Philippines in the latter half of the year ( santi ). as if ondoy (ketsana) or pepeng (don't know the intl name) or ramil (don't know either) didn't cause enough damage already. sheeesh when will it end? luckily though, it only lasted a few hours. but flights were delayed (my sister has this cebu trip that she planned as early as march, and man, was she pissed), some people were stranded and (in our case) power outages that lasted 14 hours. it didn't affect me much since i don't have anything planned this weekend except ... well nothing really. i did go out for lunch, but the mall has no A/C. then i visited my grandma who had to undergo surgery or something to remove water in her lungs. it was quite a sight. i wa
